Introduction
Internal audits check that your processes work the way you say they do. In this video, we'll follow Priya, Tresmere's internal auditor, as she plans an audit, records what she finds, and closes it off so it can't be changed.
The audit schedule
The audits page opens on the schedule, a calendar of what's planned. Overdue audits stand out. The list view gives you the same audits as a table you can filter, and the heat map shows how often each process has been audited, so gaps in your programme are easy to spot.
Planning the questions
Here's next week's extrusion line audit, with no questions yet. Priya chooses suggest questions. Doctilla looks at what's been happening in this process, such as recent corrective actions and overdue work, and suggests questions with the reason for each. She accepts the ones she wants, edits any that need it, and rejects the rest.
Recording responses
On the day, she works through the questions and records what she saw against each one: the records she checked, who she spoke to, what she found. It saves as she types.
Raising a finding
When something isn't right, she raises a finding. She chooses how serious it is: an observation, an opportunity for improvement, or a nonconformity. She describes it, links it to the question it came from, and notes the evidence.
Actions and CARs from findings
Every finding can lead straight to the work that fixes it. Create action raises a simple action with an owner and a due date. For something bigger, create CAR starts a full corrective action, already linked back to this audit and this finding.
Completing and locking
When the audit's done, Priya marks it complete. Then Claire, the quality manager, locks it. A locked audit is final: its questions, responses and findings can't be edited, which is exactly what a certification auditor wants to see. Locking and unlocking are for owners and admins only, and both are recorded.
A locked audit
Here's August's goods-in audit, completed and locked. Everything is still there to read and export, the findings link through to the corrective actions they started, but nothing can be quietly changed after the event.
Next
That's internal audits. Next, we'll log a nonconformity, and see how Doctilla spots the ones that keep coming back.
