Introduction

In construction products, what you claim about a product has to be backed by evidence, and it has to stay backed when things change. Product assurance keeps every claim, the evidence behind it, and everywhere it's published, in one place. We'll follow Dan, Tresmere's technical manager.

Products and claims

Each product lists its claims: what it achieves, and what kind of claim it is, such as performance, safety or environmental. The status shows whether a claim is supported by evidence, needs evidence, or needs reviewing because something has changed.

A claim and its evidence

Open a claim to see the evidence behind it: here, the fire test report and the classification report. Each piece of evidence is held under version control, or recorded as a reference to something held elsewhere. Published shows every document the claim appears in, so you know what to update if it changes.

Reviewing claim support

Review claim support asks Doctilla to read each claim against the titles of its evidence and point out the ones worth a second look. It only raises questions. It never tells you a claim is fine, and anything it doesn't mention is simply not mentioned.

Importing a datasheet

For a new product, start from its datasheet. Upload the PDF and ask Doctilla's AI to find the claims it makes, each with the exact line it came from. Anything that looks like a claim you already hold is left unticked.

Draft claims

Every claim comes in as a draft, because a datasheet saying something isn't evidence that it's true. The datasheet itself is filed in Documents as a draft specification with a review date, linked to the product, ready for you to attach the evidence.

Next

That's product assurance. In the last video, we'll change a product, see what the change affects, and raise a technical review.
