Introduction

Quality objectives say what you're aiming for. KPIs are how you know whether you're getting there. In this video, we'll set an objective, look at the KPIs behind it, and record a measurement.

Objectives

Each objective has an owner, a target date and the process it belongs to, with its KPIs underneath showing the latest figure against the target. Whether an objective is achieved is decided by a person at the target date. Doctilla shows the numbers, but never moves the status on its own.

Setting an objective

To set a new objective, give it a measurable title and a short description, an owner, a target date and a review date. Then add the KPIs that will show progress.

KPIs

The KPI table lists every measure: its unit, whether higher or lower is better, the target, the latest figure and a trend line. Some are recorded by hand. Others, like right first time at final inspection, are worked out from records already in Doctilla.

A KPI's history

Open a KPI to see its trend against the target line, and every measurement, with notes explaining the dips. August's drop is the low expansion batches. Where a corrective action is relying on this KPI to prove its fix worked, the effectiveness check is shown here too.

Recording a measurement

To add a figure, choose record measurement. Enter the period and either the value, or the numerator and denominator, such as complaints this month. Doctilla pools those properly when it works out a rate over several months, rather than averaging percentages.

Next

That's objectives and KPIs. Next, training and competence.
