Introduction

ISO 9001 asks you to show that the people doing the work are competent to do it. Doctilla keeps a training matrix that works itself out from your records, so you can see at a glance who's competent, whose training has lapsed, and what's missing.

The training matrix

The matrix has people down the side and competencies across the top. Green means current. Red means it's expired. A dashed outline means it's required for that person's job but there's no record at all. Not yet competent means they're still being trained. The figures across the top count each of these, so nothing hides.

Filtering

Filter by department or job title to see one team at a time. That's handy before an audit of a particular area, or when planning next month's training.

What each job needs

Competencies are where you say what's needed. Each one says what it covers, which process it belongs to, how long it stays valid, and which job titles require it. That's how Doctilla knows a missing record is a gap, not just a blank.

Recording training

When someone completes training or is assessed, choose record training. Pick the person and the competency, the date, who assessed them, and the result. If they're not yet competent, say so. The matrix updates straight away.

Next

That's training and competence. Next, the document register: approving a new revision and keeping its history.
